Facing Fabric
A soft comfortable fabric that comes in contact with patient. Available in various blends and qualities.
Soaker
An absorbent 7 ½ oz. material sandwiched between facing and barrier layers that provides comfort to patient. The soaker layer acts as an absorbent sponge and migrates fluids away from the patient.
Impervious Barrier
The durable knit barrier protects sheets, mattress, and provides comfort to patient. This impervious backing *(colored part of pad) is specially manufactured to withstand multiple commercial launderings. Vinyl will not delaminate, crystallize, or crimp and provides longer life than butyl rubber, therefore, more units can be processed per wash load.
Barjan's Special "INDICATOR" underpad visually alerts you it's time to change a moisture laden underpad by turning deep blue.
Every “INDICATOR” underpad not only has moisture capabilities, but is quality constructed of an ultra-soft poly/cotton facing quilted to a full 8 ounce blended soaker and knit back impervious vinyl barrier. Taken together an “INDICATOR” will meet or exceed every standard for patient (resident) quality care and comfort.
Bartacking:
Unique finishing feature on all Barjan Underpads, that reinforces all four corners and helps resist the various layers from shifting into lumps.
